Thumbs down diesel taxed less in VT but costs more!

why when diesel is taxed in NY at .43 per gallon and .29 in VT .. why is it cheaper in NY?????????? what a rip off, heck OPEC is ineffective compared with these guys in VT!!
and it's much cheaper in NH? taxed at .19 in NH so that's .10 difference but in littleton is is 2.89 a gallon!!!! that's 30 cents per gallon less than around here .... RIPOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i emailed channel 3 so it will be taken care of real soon!

For me the bigger question is why America has shunned desiel for so long, it's all low end slow revving torque, you guy love that stuff, it's the only reason Detroit barely scrapes 190hp out of a 4.0!

Don't get your hopes up for Ch3 fixing anything.
As i understand it, it has to do with the ultra low sulfur blend that Vermont is looking to bring in. They tax us now to pay for the infrastructure, then once the stations are retrofitted, they will allow Vt car dealers to import more oil burners, because they will be cleaner than your old tractor.

Yes it is a crock.

Yes it is cheaper elsewhere.

You have to remember that VT has no major cities. If we had the tax base of a major city (600k- 1 million people) the rest of VT would not be crumbling. Your local taxes would not be so much either. We don't, so the population of one major city (30 miles by 30 miles? and 600k) is forced to maintain all of the bridges and roads, and gas stations and shorelines, and animal populations for the entire state. We are stratched thinner here than anyplace (except possibly Wyoming, where they have more land), and the few of us who live in peaceful old VT are forced to pay for it. Literally.
