Default I'm about to buy a Sail Cloth Soft top

The reviews on the web are mixed. What's the real story?
Factory hardware on my 97 TJ is in good condition. Should I go for it?

What web reviews? Is it just waterproofed canvas or what?

They are made by BestTop and some consider them to be the top of the line replacement top. 50% quieter and more durable. The price tag is pushing $600. I Googled Besttop Jeep Sail Cloth Soft Top Reviews and some say that they are excellent and some say they don't fit well. I was hoping someone here had some experience with one.

i have quite a bit of expernce with besttops supertop, their awsome, much Quiter than the yj factory top, my besttop has been on my jeep for 5 years, put a tree through it, got it fixed, and is still a damn good top. good luck with your choice.

I own a Sail Cloth.. It is quieter and it is noticeably thicker. I was persuaded to purchase it by fellow Jeepers who owned them. They say that the top will last 3-5 years longer then the standard top, maintenance depending.

I take care of my top and try not to rub it on as many trees as possible. That said, it is about 3 years old (maybe 4 now) I've never had an issue with it and it has not faded at all. I also never run the upper door channels locked in place so, I assume there is an added stress to the top due to that but, despite it, it remains a great top. I can bounce a quarter off it and it's as tight as the day I installed it. I expect to get many more years out it it.

Good things having been said. I just talked a buddy into purchasing one for those same reasons. He got it, put it on and the side windows appear to be 1 inch too long on both sides which made it very loose fitting. I tried his window on my top and they fit fine so, something's been done to the top.. Might be worth a call to bestop to question them directly.. I'd be interested to hear what you learn!
